Happy birthday to me and happy birthday to chief Pirate Steve Theo. Did you know that we both entered this world on the same exact day in 19somethingsomething, making us both something or other years old? You do the math! I did all the math to create this week's SubModern charts though and found there to be a tie for #1 album of the week, between two highly anticipated releases of the summer - The Beths' just-announced Straight Line Was a Lie and Wet Leg's Moisturizer, which will be out in just over a week!

#1 on the singles chart was a bit more definitive with Irish band SPRINTS securing the spot with "Descartes", the first taste of their forthcoming sophomore album. But hey, look who's at #2 and #3 - it's The Beths and Wet Leg again, both with new tracks from those #1 albums, "No Joy" and "davina mccall" respectively. In a three-way tie at #4 are "Cowbella" by bar italia, "Home" by Mac DeMarco, and "Honestly" by White Reaper. #7 is a tie between fanclubwallet's "Cotton Mouth" and the collaboration between Kurt Vile and Luke Roberts "Classic Love". Finally, the top ten closes with another three-way tie, this one featuring "Is It Now?" by Automatic, "Do Nothing" by Bass Drum of Death, and "Trance State" by The London Suede.

The London Suede also brings us back to the album chart with their upcoming tenth album Antidepressants tied at #3 with Hotline TNT's Raspberry Moon. Nation of Language's Dance Called Memory is at #5, followed by The Hives Forever, Forever The Hives from... well you can probably figure that out on your own. Tied at #7 are the debut album from Late Night Drive Home, As I Watch My Life Online, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra's new Curse EP. And to close the top ten here, there's a four-way tie at #9 featuring Different Talking from Frankie Cosmos, When Are You Leaving? from Noso, More from Pulp, and Peak Experience from Sydney Sprague.

That about does it for my customary run down, but you can find a lot more chart at SubModernReport.com, with each one getting into the thirties this week due to big ties. With a big long holiday weekend coming up and the expectation that a lot of shows will be off and stations will do specialty programming (insert blocks, countdowns, A to Z's, or throwbacks here), we don't have a lot of new tunes this week, but there are a handful on the Available For Airplay list for those doing shows. And it'll be a good week to catch up with the tons of stuff that's come out over the last month. Everybody have a great 4th of July and I'll catch up with you on the 9th. (Yes, we will be doing charts.)
