Welcome to the last SubModern Report of the "summer season" (notice my use of quotes). Before the Labor Day weekend hits, let's see what hit on Alternative specialty shows this past week. Congrats on a double #1 to the duo of Nate Amos and Rachel Brown, better known as Water From Your Eyes. Their just-released third album It's A Beautiful Place is the undisputed #1 while its latest single "Nights In Armor" is tied for #1 with Matador labelmates Bar Italia's album announcement track "Fundraiser". That ushers in the era of their upcoming Some Like It Hot, due out October 17th.

Sorry slips one spot to #3 on the singles chart with "Echoes". That's followed by by the debut of Been Stellar's latest track "Always On My Mind" at #4. There's another tie at #5 between last week's #1 single, "Heartbreak" by Ivy, and "Young Offenders" by Spiritual Cramp. After that top six is a six-way tie at #7, occupying the rest of the top ten and featuring tracks by Florence + The Machine, Joyce Manor, Mac DeMarco, Rocket, Sprints, and Westerman.

Some of those same artists fill the ranks of the top ten albums, starting with the aforementioned Spiritual Cramp whose forthcoming RUDE is tied at #2 with the brand new Wolf Alice record The Clearing. Both Been Stellar (with their Breakway EP) and Mac DeMarco (with Guitar) join The Hives' self-aggrandizing The Hives Forever Forever The Hives in a three-way tie at #4. The most played SubModern artist of 2024, Australian duo Royel Otis are back with a sophomore record hickey, landing at #7 upon its release. And finally there's a four-way tie at #8, including Greg Freeman's Burnover, Jeff Tweedy's Twilight Override, Nation of Language's Dance Called Memory, and Sprints' All That Is Over.

You can find the titles I left out of the top ten and go way further down the charts HERE. You'll also find all the music that's coming your way for Labor Day weekend shows (for those of you who won't be at the beach) on the Available For Airplay list. There are lots of albums dropping including Anand Wilder, The Beths, Big Wild, The Hives, Pinkshift, Runnner, The Technicolors, and Three Days Grace, as well as singles by Austra, Blitz Vega, Hannah Jadagu, Jordana, Oliver Sim, two from Spoon, and way more. Enjoy your long weekend. You deserve it. We'll be back here next week with charts featuring whatever shows happen to be around over the holiday.
